Oulton Park was not very high on the list of Tom’s most important race meetings. It was a weekend of crashes, arm pump, and setup gremlins, all of which made life difficult for the Kentish rider and his Bike Devil Racing team.

Following the race, Tom sat down to explain some of the problems he had experienced at Oulton Park, one of his favourite circuits.

“To be honest, I was doing my best to have more confidence in the front-end of the bike; it’s capable, I just need to get myself in sync with it.”

Tom added, “My move into BSB has been something of a baptism of fire. I’m not intimidated by the step up to the superbike class. Everything about it is incredible; the power of the bike, the grip of the tyres and the speeds that we achieve when we head out onto the track are amazing. Everyone that races in the premier class is so fast; it’s another level. My team are fantastic. PJ and Dave are very patient, and are doing everything that they can to make the Kawasaki ZX10-RR work for me and my riding style.”

So, with just under two weeks to go until the next triple-header event at Donington Park GP circuit, we asked Tom how he thinks the rest of the season will shape up for him and Bike Devil Racing.

“Well, you know, I enjoy Donington and Brands Hatch. Both of the circuits suit my riding style and will allow me to exploit the performance of the Kawasaki fully. I’ll be working extra hard on my fitness, especially the endurance side of things. Once I can get dialled in with the bike, and find that perfect setup, I can easily be in the hunt for a top ten finish, or three!”

Round 5 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship gets underway on Friday 2nd of October at the Donington Park GP circuit.
